Frequently Asked Questions
What is 3D/4D ultrasound?
3D ultrasound is an advanced technology that provides three dimensional ultrasound still images of the fetus. When these images are captured with real time movement it is known as 4D.
Does this replace the ultrasound that is performed by my doctor?
No. Our services are strictly elective and non-diagnostic. All of our expecting moms are required to have had a full medical diagnostic ultrasound reviewed by their OB doctor prior to their appointment with us.
Is it safe for me and my baby?
Yes. Ultrasound technology has been studied over the past 30 years and has not been shown to cause any harm to the mother or baby. All of our sonographers are certified and have many years of experience in this industry.
When is the best time to have a 3D ultrasound?
For simple gender verification, 2D/ 3D ultrasounds can be performed as early as 16 weeks. For stunning 3D images of your baby’s face we recommend coming in between 24 and 34 weeks.
What can affect the quality of the 3D images?
The most common factor that can affect the quality of the 3D images is the position of the baby or placenta location. Sometimes your baby may be hiding and not in the mood for taking pictures. While there are some techniques that can be performed to capture a good image, the position of your baby will ultimately determine the quality of these images.
Can I bring family and friends?
Yes. You are welcome to bring your family and friends to share in this wonderful experience.
Is it covered by insurance?
No. Our services are elective and not covered by insurance. For your convenience we accept all major credit cards.
How should I prepare for my ultrasound?
Eat and drink as you normally would. The most important thing is to dress comfortably. We suggest wearing something that has a separate top and bottom instead of a one piece dress as it allows easy access to the belly without the need to get undressed.
Do I need to have a full bladder?
No. However we do recommend staying well hydrated. The more hydrated you are the clearer the amniotic fluid and the better chance for a clearer picture.
How long is the appointment?
Bella Bebe Imaging is all about the experience. You will get full personalized attention in a non-rushed environment. For planning purposes, you can expect to spend a minimum of 1 hour at our facility. |
